You all have heard it. New year new me. We are all guilty of it. Waiting until December 31st to think about all of the things that we need to change in our lives and in ourselves. Then January 2nd comes along, we are still getting over our hangovers and we are back to where we were the past year. To then what? Wait to the December 31st of the current year to have the same New Years Eve resolution AGAIN?! Negative.
How do we stop this circle from going full circle every year? First, start making realistic NYE resolutions. Don’t say “next year I’m going to hit the gym 3 times a week” Umm, not if you don’t even like walking down the street your not. Find something that you like doing that won’t seem like exercising but is. Like dancing or shopping. Trust me, you can burn some calories if you shop around Garden State Plaza long enough. Ha!
Second, don’t let anyone rain on YOUR parade. If you made a NYE resolution stick to it. You promised it to yourself because you believed in it not to make others happy. They ask you “Why?” ignore. They say “you can’t” ignore. They laugh?! Must I repeat it. Therefore, you have 12 months to prove them wrong and to prove yourself right.
Lastly, remember that NYE resolutions aren’t made for you to be a “new you” in the new year. They are for you to improve the already PERFECT YOU.
