So, I just finished having a conversation with my cousin Nicolle from Florida, who I must say I miss deeply, about Facebook. I know what your thinking.
“Is she really blogging about Facebook!?”
Umm, yes I am. Feel free to stop reading now because I am about to go on a rant. Here we go.
I haven’t had a Facebook in about 1 - 2 years now and I don’t miss it at all. I transitioned from Myspace to Facebook my freshman year of college at WPU in ‘08. All of my new friends on campus had one so after much peer pressure I decided to jump on the bandwagon. First few months were good. A post here a post there. Albums full of pictures of my friends and I just hanging around campus. It was cool. Until the snoops came along.
Snoop (to snoop)- to investigate or look around furtively in an attempt to find out something, esp. information about someone’s private affairs.
These people basically brought me to the point that i just couldn’t take it anymore. Gossip, rumors, drama. Relationship ruiners and excuse my french, SHIT TALKERS. Over it and didn’t want to deal with it. So, I deleted my Facebook.
Yes, Facebook used to be a great source of communication. A way for one to share pictures and information with family and friends who you had not seen in a while. But today it is at a whole different level and it isn’t a good one.
Facebook is now affiliated with all sorts of crimes and the most common being bullying. Some people may not consider it a crime. But this is my blog and in my blog BULLYING IS A CRIME. Online bullying and harassment that usually takes place on Facebook.
Now, once again this is my opinion. If you have a Facebook that is perfectly fine. There is not a problem with that. I <——- on the other hand, rather not be affiliated with it. It’s just unnecessary drama that I rather not be part of and that I definitely do not miss.
